Buying Silver Coins

How To Buy Silver Coins Page

When buying silver coins, there are lot’s of different coins and rounds to choose from, but keep the end in mind.  When you want to sell them, you want your buyer to immediately recognize them and value them.

As spot prices rise, there will be an increase in counterfeiting, so buyers will be cautious and want to buy familiar coins.

Not Recommended

I don’t buy novelty coins like special issue American Eagles and such, as they carry a high premium over the precious metal value.

I don’t buy silver rounds from private mints because my future buyer may not be familiar with that mint.

I don’t buy numismatic collector coins, as I don’t want to pay the high premiums for their perceived value.  In the end, the precious metal content is the only thing that will matter.

Recommended

I prefer American Eagle, which everyone quickly recognizes and there’s always demand, so they are easy to sell.

Other widely recognized government coins I buy are the Canadian Maple Leafs.

You pay a small premium for government coins, but you will get that back when you sell them, especially as the prices rise significantly.
